Police Department Communications Division

The Communications Division or 911 Call Center is most often the point of first contact between citizens and the Police Department. They maintain a fully staffed communications center which handles all incoming emergency and non-emergency calls, 911 calls, local and national computer links as well as provide radio communications for the police and fire departments.

With several business and emergency phone lines to permit calls for police fire and ambulance services, the communications center handles thousands of calls every week. These calls are screened for the type of emergency that may be occurring. The staff then determines the proper response and dispatches units from the Warr Acres Police Department and Fire Department as well as EMSA ambulance services.

When mutual aid assistance is needed from other agencies, the staff communicates with other agencies forwarding the request or information. Entries into the National Crime Information Computer (NCIC) are handled by the staff and vital information is communicated through the Oklahoma Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (OLETS) computer system.
